I decided very early I wasn't going to allow this to hold me back from achieving my goals. I believed I still had an opportunity to be who I wanted to be and do what I wanted to do only I had to find a way to juggle things. I did, I kept at it, I persevered... I stuck to what I loved while being the best mum I could be. What I do now I do because I love it and because it also stands to benefit my little lady.
What I loved was dance, I danced from a very young age and always knew it was going to be an important part of my life in the future. Dancing keeps me mentally alert, fresh, fit and for me the added bonus of keeping me in shape. I looked into many avenues of fitness and began my training with Fitness NI in 2008 earning my qualifications in Group Fitness with Exercise to music, this then lead me to find Zumba one of the biggest crazes to hit the whole world. In 2010 I was ready and branched out into setting up my own business with SMFITNESS. Since then I have started studying Pilates with LIA fitness, and also trained in Piloxing, Piloxing Barre and I have become 1 of 3 national qualified ELITE instructors. And to end 2014 I have finished my JYMKA instructor training and will be educating children aged 3-18 on how fitness can be FUN and the importance of staying active. I will be teaching classes both publicly from my own venue Pinehill Studios and also within schools and creches across Donegal!!
2015 has proven so far to be yet another crazy year. I travelled to LA in February to visit the HQ of Piloxing where I met and trained with the founder of Piloxing Viveca Jenson, also a single mom and a very inspiring strong women. While in LA I completed my training in Piloxing Knockout and was choosen out of over 80 other instructors to further my education in the program and became assistant Master Trainer of Piloxing Knockout in Ireland.
Adding to my repertoire of classes I have trained in another children's program. Dramafit is a brand new fitness program teaching kids the importance of staying active and included are confidence building and so much more.
Thankfully since I first took my classes around the county, the support I've had from all areas have been immense and has gone from strength to strength.
So are you one of the following that has the secret conversation with yourself in the bedroom mirror??
'Ah sure I'm past all that now!'
'I don't want to go to that wedding next summer, I hate trying to find clothes to fit me!'
